With just two singles out in the world so far, Urkt has already made strong first impressions with their boundaryless and sublimely warped electronica. We caught up with the Bristol/London duo to talk being choirboys, peanuts and listening recommendations.

Their latest single ‘Rich Now’ sees the duo, comprised of Harry Urquhart and Alfie Tyson-Brown, craft a sweltering blend of sultry R&B and shimmering, warped pop. The first melancholic notes of the track bubble with crystalline effervescence as Urquhart’s soulful, distorted vocals meld seamlessly with Tyson-Brown’s wavering, static synths and the intricate sonic fauna the duo fabricates. As the track progresses, the thick layers of brooding electronica build with heady, hypnotic potency culminating in a lustrous, transcendent slice of dark, contorted pop.

The second track from Urkt’s debut trio of singles, ‘Rich Now’ follows on from the twisted industrialism of debut single ‘Sour’. You can also check out Bristol duo Fever 103°’s heavy, trance-inducing remix of ‘Rich Now’ here.
