Spring’s finally on its way and with it comes an incredibly exciting array of cultural happenings at Somerset House Studios over the next few months, featuring events with Beatrice Dillon and Juliana Huxtable, amongst many others.
Having just released her intricately textured, hypnotic, and playful debut album Workaround Beatrice Dillon performs a live showcase of the record on 10th March. Joined by guest performers Jamila Johnson-Small (Last Yearz Interesting Negro) and Eve Stainton, this will be the premier live show of Workaround with an evening of live performance and movement.
Elsewhere SHOCK VALUE founder and multidisciplinary artist Juliana Huxtable talks on her work and artistic practices for the third event in the Studios’ Grounding Practice series. A prominent and singular voice within contemporary art, intersecting the academic world and club scenes, Huxtable also joins the Studios community as the inaugural resident on the new Goethe-Institut x Somerset House Studios collaborative programme. Check out her searing set at Nyege Nyege Festival below.
Other highlights include The Body Series: To The Unknown, a multidisciplinary curatorial project which sees film screenings featuring the likes of Holly Herndon & Jlin, and performances from Purple Velvet collective and drag artist Whiskey Chow. There’s also a unique dining experience in the form of Time Eating, centring on themes of birth, marriage and death, as well as the launch of new programming and producing platform Mutant Promise.
