Simian Ghost // In Short

simian ghost

Hailing from Sweden it’s no surprise that Simian Ghost have a seemingly innate ability to write hook laden, care-free pop songs, together with lead singer Sebastian Arnström’s light and effortless vocals each track captures melancholy and turns it into something hopeful. Having released new album The Veil at the end of last year, their sound is charming, warming and exuberant, with each impeccably produced track getting under your skin and into your feet, making it basically impossible not to dance.

We caught up with them before they play The Finsbury on February 23rd (it’s free but don’t forget to RSVP)

If we had to describe our music in 3 words, we’d use…
Not heavy metal.

The coolest famous person I’ve met was Kim Gordon.

The best venue I’ve played so far is…
Bungenäs in Gotland was nice. It’s this little peninsula just outside of Fårösund, we did an acoustic gig there last summer. They had beds down by the beach, that was awesome.

The song I hate the most is…
The Swedish national anthem.

The Worst Job I’ve ever had is…
Cleaning and changing these huge gas filters in steel mill chimneys.

If I was in a tribute band it would be a…
…damn shame really. I wanna do my own stuff.

My Favourite word is….
Tuva.

If I had a super power I’d want it to be….
Eternal life.

If I could play a gig anywhere it would be…
On some other planet would be cool. Mars maybe?

I think you should listen to…
Noam Chomsky.

If I could see anyone play live it would be…
If it’s alive or dead I’d say Jan Johansson.
