The Men
New Moon
Sacred Bones // March 4th

Prolific is a word that has its ambiguities and The Men are a group that stretch its meanings to new lengths. Having released three albums in as many years, theirs was a sound once thrillingly based on slackjaw, sleazy rock and punk. But on last year’s ‘Open Your Heart’, an irking shift to something more country and wistful entered the fray. Even more so on ‘New Moon’, where the whisky-soaked ire of Mark Perro leans more to a Springsteen-meets-Dylan nocturnal slur that doesn’t set the night alight nearly as much as its predecessors.
