Review // Suuns – Images Du Futur

Secretly Canadian // March 4th

Operating as a follow-up to 2011’s debut LP ‘Zeroes QC’, which relentlessly pounded psychedelic prog rock in our ears, Montreal’s Suuns tone down the chaos and instead veer towards a slower, more contained sound. The vocals are now interpretable and while fans of their previous effort might need to some time to get used to it, they still retain some of their more interesting elements. ‘Images Du Futur’ always seems to be on the brink of exploding, but never quite executes it, and while there’s a certain beauty and charm to their new direction, it makes for a less fascinating listen.
