Osquello flips negativity into positivity with skill and nuance in his forthcoming debut EP Good Morning Simulation, out on Practise Music. We caught up with him via some quick fire questions to find out about what does (and doesn’t) make him tick.

Singer, Songwriter and rapper Osquello returned recently with single ‘Finding Peace’, an emotive cut of jazz inflected hip-hop storytelling. With the release came the announcement of his debut EP ‘Good Morning Simulation’, a tight, 7-track collection of songs that weave seamlessly in and out of the concepts of living in a simulation and being isolated in a world that is becoming more and more interconnected.

‘Finding Peace’ is one of the most raw moments on the EP, tackling one of the darkest moments in Osquello’s life and how he subsequently rose above it. It was a period where mental illness threatened to consume him and those closest to him were losing faith in him. Vivid imagery is deployed over dynamic nocturnal beats, with Osquello intoning “Slept in the attic/ was really manic” instantly submerging you into this turbulent time. But on ‘Finding Peace’ Osquello refuses to settle for sadness, with the track focusing on acknowledgement of the situation and overcoming it.

‘Finding Peace’ follows to singles ‘Simulated Void’ and ‘Tired Creature’. You can watch the video for ‘Simulated Void’ below.
