We catch up with Portuguese singer-songwriter Mai Kino in the wake of the release of her incredible debut EP ‘Dopamine’ produced by David Wrench (The XX, FKA Twiggs, Frank Ocean) which can be heard here.

Last week Mai Kino released a stunning stripped back version of her single ‘Lungs’ which is a mesmerising example of why she is an artist to watch. Have a listen and read through our In Short piece with her below:

Three words to describe my music… immersive,  spiritual, dreamlike

Last photo on your phone… a meme screenshot

Favourite Instagram account… a tie between arca1000000 and freud intensifies

The best venue I’ve played… was a festival, Primavera Sound

Earliest song you remember… Brahms’ lullaby

The worst job I’ve ever had… posing for live painting and sculpting, I was cold and badly paid

The thing I most love to cook is… veggie maki rolls

My Favourite word…  água

A book I love... I Ching  – Book of Changes

Things that cheer me up… dancing, night walks, dogs

If I could play a gig anywhere it would be… Glastonbury, and churches all around the world

I think you should listen to
… each other

If I could see anyone play live it would be… Bach, Portishead, King Krule

Keep up with Mai Kino on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Spotify
