Get to know Loma better ahead of their upcoming show at The Lexington.

Loma’s self-titled debut record is a project of collaboration. Bringing together Jonathan Meiburg, best known as the singer of Shearwater, and Emily Cross and Dan Duszynski of Cross Record, the band recorded the album after convening in a house in the Texas hill country to see what would happen and quickly realising an album was on the cards.

“There was something powerful about the combination of the three of us,” Meiburg says, who met his fellow band members when they supported a Shearwater tour in 2016, “and very different from either of our bands. But I think we were afraid to say so out loud, for fear of jinxing it.” For the next few months, the trio met for two weeks at a time, shaping new songs and casting others away. The final result, their self-titled debut record out now via Sub Pop, is a detailed and album which evokes the location in which it was created.

To get to know the band a little better, we asked Jonathan and Emily to run through our In Short questions. You can see Loma live at The Lexington on 31st May.
