Talk about new kid on the block. London singing starlet Liv Dawson played one of her first-ever shows last week at the George IV. And now it’s been announced that she’s lined up to perform at October’s Mirrors festival. Not bad, huh?

The one-day multi-venue Mirrors festival returns to Hackney on October 29th and has already announced the beginning of a strong bill featuring Bat For Lashes and Fucked Up performing their renowned album Hidden World. It means that young Liv should – rightly – be feeling on top of the world with her bright start.

It all started after she turned heads with her first tune – ‘Tapestry’ – a spacious and enchantingly wise-beyond-its-years ballad which shows off Liv’s spellbinding voice. Oh, and if it helps the tune went to #1 in Spotify’s UK viral 50 chart, #4 in the global viral chart and has 1.2 million plays to date on Spotify. Beat that.

Lightning struck twice after she followed it up with ‘Still’ – which is equally mesmerising and haunting with its edgy electronic undertow. “It’s about someone that makes a huge impact in your life,” Liv explains. “So when they leave, you notice everything that they have left their mark on.”

To get to know Liv a bit better we asked her the burning questions ahead of her Mirrors appearance, including her stints weekend job working at a salon, meeting Elton John and her dislike of Pokémon trap versions. Read on…
