Leggy exudes an infectious and vibrant energy tinged with an effortlessly cool nonchalance, and conveyed via their signature fuzzy, dream-punk. The Cincinnati trio released their debut full-length album Let Me Know Your Moon on Sheer Luck Records earlier this year and have recently supported The Spook School on their farewell tour, alongside playing dates with Pile and Personal Best. We caught up with them to find out a little more about Leggy (including their current love of beans on toast!).

With an aptitude for crafting catchy bass riffs and shimmering melodies imbued with an undeniable grunge-edge, Leggy purveys an earnest emotive essence within their lyrics delivered with a certain tenacious potency. Speaking on their album, vocalist and guitarist Veronique Allaer details, “I tried to channel that nervous energy into pure adrenaline on the recording”, and this is certainly tangible in the vivacity of their sound.

We caught up with Leggy just ahead of their co-headline show with fellow Sheer Luck Records signee Personal Best; get to know the Cincinnati-punks In Short…

The best venue I’ve played…

Damn this is hard! In England we played at the Colchester Arts Centre. Part of the center was attached to a church and the church was from the 1200s and apparently (according to local lore) was one of the locations that started the lore of Bloody Mary (which I think is pretty sick)!

Earliest song you remember…

(What If God was) One of Us by Joan Osborne

The worst job I’ve ever had…

American Apparel when I was in college (lol)

Favourite food on tour…

Currently English breakfasts (beans on toast is genius )

My Favourite word…

“Yalright?” (As a greeting, not a question)

Things that cheer me up…

Dumb magic and party tricks, fruity candy, petting pets (especially fluffies), watching Love Island, being part of Bachelor Nation

If I could play a gig anywhere it would be…

Tokyo or Hong Kong

I think you should listen to…

Some bands I’ve been jamming lately are Dig Nitty (NYC), Gully Boys (Minneapolis), BbyMutha (Houston)

If I could see anyone play live it would be…

Christina Aguilera, The Vines, and Joanna Newsom are long time favorite artists of mine who I haven’t been able to see live yet. Would love to though!

Let Me Know Your Moon is out now, get the album here.
