Following the release of singles ‘Hurry Up’, ‘Cold Wine’ & ‘Let Go’ – Dutch artist Joshua J released his debut LP in its entirety last Friday 8th March, and we love it. We caught up with the artist to find out a little more about him ahead of his UK tour; from swag, to Surinamese food…

Growing up in foster care, Joshua J – has already won over the likes of Dr. Dre & Julie Adenuga (Beats 1) on earlier material. Joshua J started writing and singing when he moved out of the foster home he grew up in. Creating this album helped him to process a lot of what happened in the first nineteen years of his life. It brought him closer to who he is and outlined who he wants to become. 1998 represents Joshua in his purest, more sincere form.

A DIY pioneer in every sense, Joshua J is not only a vocalist but also produces and masters his own material. He is also fully involved in the artwork creation, as well as directing, filming and editing his own visual content.

The rest of 2019 will see Joshua J release a wealth of new material & embark on a UK tour. We caught up with the artist to find out a little more about him; from food, to swag, to Surinamese food…

The best venue I’ve played…
Last year I opened up for ODIE for his “Analogue tour” stop in Amsterdam. The venue we played at is called ‘Paradiso’. Paradiso is hands down one of the most prestigious venues in The Netherlands so I felt very honoured to play there. It was one of my first live shows and the vibe was great. I enjoyed every second of it.
