A monthly gathering celebrating a wealth of jazz talent across the board, Jazz In The Round takes place every Monday at The Cockpit with renowned jazz broadcaster Jez Nelson at the helm. Over the coming months, they continue with their regular events on the last Monday of every month alongside hosting the next Emergence, which sees them bring a collaborative and collective long-weekend of performances and more to Hastings from 23rd to 26th April.
The fourth in this series, this coming Emergence sees them return to St Mary In The Castle where the first Emergence festival took place. Bringing performances from the likes of critically acclaimed Deptford artist collective Steam Down and high-energy sextet Hexagonal, Jazz In The Round and The Cockpit continue to pioneer an ever-exciting array of artists at the forefront of contemporary jazz.
The first day of the festival (Thursday 23rd) sees Resonate, a free-flowing collaborative platform for emerging artists to express themselves, hold their monthly spoken word night in collaboration with The Eggtooth Project. Other events across the festival include a performance from Edifice Dance and intimate performances in St Mary’s Crypt. Check out the full Emergence festival line-up here.
Over the past seven years Jazz In The Round has been an integral part of London’s contemporary jazz scene and a dedicated platform for new and emerging jazz artists to perform. And it continues to be, with their next event on 30th March being a special recreation of seminal 60s jazz TV show Jazz 625. See one of their Jazz In The Round sessions below and find out more about the series here.
