Jack + Eliza // In Short

Jack and Eliza TGE

Not many bands have to ditch their university lessons to play SXSW. But that’s just what the New York City duo Jack + Eliza decided to do this spring just to play the many stages of Austin, Texas. Now, the they’re jetting across the Atlantic to see if they can weave their magic again at The Great Escape festival in Brighton.

The childhood friends and musical collaborators have quickly made a name for themselves with their effortless, warm and melodious sun-drenched pop, while Eliza won the International John Lennon Songwriting award at just 15. Inspired by Sixties psychedelia, the duo takes a stripped-down approach to their own music and revel in the sparse landscape of their own melancholy.

The duo burst onto the scene last year with their critically acclaimed EP, No Wonders, produced by Chris Zane (The Walkmen, Holy Ghost, Passion Pit). It positively reverberates within its nostalgic sound, letting their voices intertwine with remarkable results. Meanwhile this past winter, the duo split their time between university and the studio to again pair up with Zane for their debut album, Gentle Warnings, which will be released in June.

So while Jack + Eliza were fastening their seat belts and securing their tray tables, we asked the dynamic duo the tough questions:
