Honeyblood comprise of Shona McVicar and Stina Tweeddale, a self-assured twosome; delivering melodic indie hooks and amiable comparisons to the likes of Dum Dum Girls. Their self-titled debut album confidently plunges into opener ‘Fall Forever’, before twisting into moodier depths during ‘Biro’ and ‘No Spare Key’. Working with legendary producer Peter Katis (The National, Interpol) has obviously had an impact on their poised and radio-ready sound, yet somehow it all seems a little too safe. It’s only during ‘All Dragged Up’ that we really get to hear a riled-up version of the duo, but by then it’s just a little too late. Do we really need another blend-in indie band? I’ll leave that all-important decision down to you.
