Ahead of releasing her stunning new album tomorrow, we caught up with Hannah Georgas to talk Björk, Jack Black and her dream gig.

Following on from her acclaimed 2016 record For EvelynAll That Emotion sees Georgas’ poignant songwriting blossom with even more raw, stark emotivity. Produced by Aaron Dessner of The National, this new release holds a certain tender magic, at once permeated by wistful, introspective reflections whilst emanating an indubitable hope. This feeling is augmented by the sonic intricacy and nuanced textures that offer a certain comforting and graceful solace.

Musing on the album, Georgas expresses “I have been thinking about what this album represents to me and it is resilience. It’s about finding hope and a way out the other side of tough situations. The hardships we go through make us grow into stronger people. The album is about healing, self reflection and getting up again at the end of the day.” And through All That Emotion Georgas certainly channels this strength and resilience tangibly into a collection of striking and soothing songs.

I really love Jack Black’s account. He makes me laugh a lot.

The best venue I’ve played…
I remember playing this beautiful venue in Stockholm called the Nalen. I was playing a
stripped down set and the sound felt so huge and amazing.

Earliest song you remember…
The earliest song I remember hearing was my dad playing The Flight of the Bumblebee on
piano. He would play this boogie woogie version of it all the time when I was a kid.

The worst job I’ve ever had…
I worked at a discount bra store in my teens. I remember that my boss wasn’t very nice to me for some reason.

If I could play a gig anywhere it would be…
Hawaii. If I could do a life long residency there I would in a heartbeat.

I think you should listen to…
This is The Kit! I love Kate Stables so much. I had the opportunity to sing back ups with her in The National last year and we became fast friends. Her voice is so beautiful and she is an incredible songwriter.

If I could see anyone play live it would be…
I would recommend Portishead. I really loved their show. I really want to see Bjork live.
