Having just announced his UK & Ireland tour, we caught up with George Ogilvie to find out a little more about him via some quick-fire questions. From chaos, to Cornwall, to holding two greasy burgers in the back of a van…

Some artists just aren’t made to fit like cogs into the machine. Unique, uncompromising musicians with a talent and vision that won’t bend to the modern industry formulas. Artists like George Ogilvie, a songwriter who uses music as therapeutic exorcism and nature as inspiration, and refuses to be moulded, shunted or manipulated. After all, his sanity depends on it.

Having just announced his UK & Ireland tour – which will see him visit Glasgow, Dublin, Bristol and more, with a headline show at Oslo in London on 2nd October – we caught up with George to find out a little more about him via some quick-fire questions. From chaos, to Cornwall, to holding two greasy burgers in the back of a van…

Three words to describe my music…
Not particularly uplifting

Last photo on my phone…
Me and my dog Vinnie

Favourite Instagram Account…
No clue, I just follow a lot of bands and art blogs

The best venue you’ve played…
Omeara, London, so I was pretty pumped to return there for a headline show last week.

Earliest song you remember…
You Get What You Give by The New Radicals

The worst job I’ve ever had…
I had one shift behind a bar, dropped two bottles of wine in the first five minutes and decided it wasn’t for me

Favourite Food On Tour…
It’s very time dependent I guess, one minute you’re in a salad bar feeling great about yourself, the next you’re holding two greasy burgers in the back of a van. Not a euphemism.

My favourite word…
Chaos

Things that cheer me up…
Good weather, being on the move, listening to music

If I could play a gig anywhere it would be…
Somewhere like the Minack Theatre in Cornwall

I think you should listen to…
U.F.O.F by Big Thief

If I could see anyone play live it would be…
Radiohead
