Elheist is the genre-defying rapper, singer and producer bringing effortless swag and self-assured empowerment. A visionary creative force, her debut EP Wholesome Goody sees her fully announce her arrival as one to watch. We caught up with Elheist for a quick chat.

Opening track ‘Enterprise Enterprise’ calls to mind Sudan Archives with its graceful melodic intricacy, whilst title track ‘Wholesome Goody’ brings a heady fusion of potent, booming beats and sensuous R&B melodies. Across the EP Elheist channels the most infectious and entrancing energy. At once dulcet and decadent, Wholesome Goody exudes uninhibited confidence and alluring magnetism. Her voice is a powerful instrument at the forefront of each track as she shifts seamlessly from delivering hard bars to celestial, velvety intonations. This balance is also reflected in the sounds of the EP as suave sweetness and brooding, strident production blend across the tracks.

Speaking on Wholesome Goody Elheist says, “I wrote this for me, for you, for us. Our journeys are to be embraced. Take what you need from it, but most of all enjoy it. Dance with it. Sleep with it. Cry with it. Whatever it evokes.” A compelling, entrancing debut, Wholesome Goody shows exactly why Elheist is such an exciting and pioneering name bringing a fresh, authentic originality to the intersection of hip-hop and club.
