At this year’s Great Escape a handful of strong acts will be out in force to represent the forefront of the Dutch music scene, spanning pop, indie, electronic and jazz.
Electronic duo CUT_, who took off after their English language rendition of Stromae’s ‘Papaoutai’ went viral in 2014, show a breadth of songwriting skill, mashing up giddy pop with dark synths. Then there’s Dakota, a hazy lo-fi four-piece who match psychedelic guitar riffs with indie-pop roots and Mitchel Van Dinther, the Dutch producer known as Jameszoo, who offers a fresh take on modern jazz music by mixing avant-garde jazz, prog and kraut rock with electronic experiments. There’s also Kim Janssen‘s, whose atmospheric orchestral arrangements and soaring falsetto vocals brings a fresh take on pop, whereas Pip Blom provides a one-person powerhouse of scuzzy lo-fi guitar music.
All acts will be playing Dutch Impact’s showcase at Komedia on the 19th May and have their own sets across the weekend as well. You can find out the details here.
