It’s coming. They promised, right? Way back in November bandmates Alex Luciano and Noah Bowman assured us that they were hard at work writing their debut album. The writing was going full-on ‘hardcore’ they both swore.

Well, we’re still waiting. But hey, these things take time. After all, not every band can begin life under such unlikely circumstances as Diet Cig – the search for a lighter – which has led led to an impressive buzz among pop fans. However, for the New York state duo and up-and-coming pop champions, the excitement is real.

Luckily, you don’t have to wait for them to record that album to enjoy the refreshing and infectious power of their music. All you have to do is head down to Brighton and hang around from May 19th to catch the self-described ‘two homies just making tunes and eggs on the regs’ when they play the Great Escape Festival.

The duo first put songs to tape when they recorded a five-song demo in February last year, for their Over Easy EP, which consisted entirely of lyrics written by Alex in her bedroom. Combined with Noah’s sweat equity on the drums, she was released to go full pop tornado and embrace ‘the innocence of adolescence and infatuation’.

Since then, the fledgling band has cultivated an impressive devil-may-care attitude that is reflected in Alex’s lyrics, such as this gem from their Dinner Date banger: “And you know I’m scared/ Like a third grader on a triple dog dare.”

Ahead of their arrival on these fair shores for The Great Escape, I cornered the partners in crime to ask them a few burning questions. And while I was frankly appalled to hear Alex’s opinion of Talking Heads, we soldiered on like true professionals…
