“Do what you love & and do it with your friends and you’ll never work a day in your life.”
Ahead of the release of her debut album English Rose on 22nd March, and her performance at this year’s The Great Escape, get to know the brilliant Connie Constance In Photos…
Black Acre affiliate Connie Constance has spent the last few years fine-tuning her sound. With a distinctive tone to her vocal and a penchant for penning lyrics simultaneously introspective and outward-facing, the north London singer-songwriter makes music which sits somewhere amidst the realms of jazz, soul, indie and rock.
And now, in 2019, Connie Constance presents her long-awaited debut album. English Rose will be released via AMF Records – also home to the likes of Loyle Carner and Alice Glass – on March 22nd. Check the title track, Connie’s reinterpretation of The Jam’s 1978 track of the same name, below.
Connie’s message is one of inclusivity, and her cover of ‘English Rose’ is a reflection of this, highlighting the beauty that lies in the diversity of the UK. The album explores what it means to be British and features songwriting collaborations with the likes of Mura Masa and Dave Okumu, as well as production credits from Jim Abbiss who has worked with Adele and the Arctic Monkeys.
Connie Constance is redefining the English Rose, asking questions, demanding answers, and asking the listener to probe in the same way.
Connie’s headline tour to celebrate the release of her album will culminate in Brighton on May 9th with a show at The Great Escape Festival. Ahead of her performance, and the release of English Rose, get to know Connie Constance In Photos…
