Celebrating 16 years of Club Mofo, the pioneering, queer DIY dance party promoters are putting on a limited series of shows to mark the occasion, with the first one coming up next Thursday. For the first of their Sixteen Candles events, they’ve gathered a suitably enticing line-up for their party at Corsica Studios next week.

Founded by Daughters of Kaos in 2003, Club Mofo has hosted the likes of SOPHIE, Planningtorock, Grimes, Charli XCX, Lone Taxidermist and TR/ST, to mention but a few. And their capacity for gathering an exciting, eclectic array of innovative artists under one roof continues with Sixteen Candles #1. Compered by the effervescent Oberon White, a multi-disciplinary queer performance artist and musician, the line-up features Light Asylum, Sink Ya Teeth, and Secret Power with Too Many Man (aka Fay Milton of Savages), Ms. Mohammed, and Daughters of Kaos providing choice selections in between sets.

Check out the acts playing below.

Light Asylum

Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist, producer, and industrial, dark, dance-pop auteur Shannon Funchess, aka the founder of Light Asylum, brings her commanding, spellbinding presence to Club Mofo for Light Asylum’s only London date.

Sink Ya Teeth

Resonant and sharp post-punk meets infectious dance-pop courtesy of the Norwich duo. Imbued with innate human connectivity, their sound channels a certain 80s synth-pop meets 90s EDM merged with potent post-punk basslines and attitude.

Secret Power

Combining a love of post-punk and R&B harmonies, the London three-piece formed out of the South London ‘First Timers’ event and have crafted a gloriously reverb-drenched, alt-soul-infused sound.
