CFCF – Outside // Album Review

CFCFDummy // October 21st

A lot can happen in four years, whether its an entire university degree or the premiere and finale of a middling-running U.S sitcom. It’s also the stop-gap period between Montreal producer CFCF’s debut and this, his second full-length release. In this time, electronic musician Mike Silver has shapeshifted through a series of concept EPs, now returning for the equally-varying ‘Outside’. While he’s not yet seem to have settled on a definitive signature sound, this might prove to be to his advantage, with the record jumping from groove-laden synth-pop to ambient minimalism in heartbeat, but – more importantly – refusing to ever settle.
