Ahead of Pitchfork Paris 2019 we catch up with Barrie to find out what they’re excited to see.
It’s hard not to fall for the glittering melodies that Barrie Lindsay seem to effortlessly produce. With her stunning vocal on top, it’s like a warming summer daydream that makes you want to dance. Want evidence? Check out her brand new EP, Happy To Be Here (Ext). Barrie are also heading to Pitchfork Paris this year to bring some of that sun to the winter nights, and in the straightforward words of Lindsay: “These are some of my favourite songs from Pitchfork Paris artists this year, leaning heavy on piano.” We can’t wait to drink a red wine and listen to them there.
First up take a listen to Barrie’s new EP:
BEA1991 – I Am a Joker!
I saw her at SXSW this year at a hectic showcase and she cut right through, it was one of those sets where you’re like, ‘oh shit this person is special’.
Jessica Pratt – Opening Night
I love Jessica Pratt and I love this whole album. Feels weird choosing this one because she doesn’t sing on it but the piano is so beautiful. And reminds me of everything that’s perfect about bicycling through New York City really late at night.
Nilüfer Yanya – Baby Luv
We’re playing a few shows with Nilüfer Yanya in Denmark and Germany in October and I’m pumped to see this song live 🙂
Jackie Mendoza – La Luz
I don’t dance but if I did I would only dance to Jackie Mendoza, lol. Really she’s a great New York musician, super nice and makes very nice catchy dance music. I love her.
Weyes Blood – Everyday
One of my favorite songs of the last year, this album is so good. I get goosebumps from her Karen Carpenter voice.
