Arms & Sleepers // In Short

Reminiscent of the dreamlike electronica of Bibio and Caribou, Boston’s Arms & Sleepers show just how far they’ve come with their brilliantly dizzying new album Swim Team. Full of nostalgia and lush textures it’s their most complete work to date, embodying the type of music that seems to make the sun shine even more brightly through the trees, immerse yourself in the title track below and you’ll see what we mean. To celebrate the album release they’ll be playing Cargo this November supporting Skalpel.

We caught up the duo to get to know them a little better first:

If I had to describe our music in three words, I’d use…
Haec Resonare Fibris.

My favourite film ever is…
Really difficult to pick one, but for this occasion let’s say ‘The Lives of Others’. Such an emotionally powerful film, with exceptional acting, soundtrack, screenplay, and historical research.

The most famous person I’ve met is…
Haven’t met one, sorry.

The best venue I’ve played so far is…
Treibhaus in Luzern, Switzerland – amazing sound system, staff, and artist flat right above the venue (which includes washer/dryer). Plus it’s, you know, Switzerland. Things are kinda nice over there.

The song I hate the most is…
Every Anita Baker song, but only because they’re indefinitely stuck in my head.

The worst job I’ve ever had is…
Doing live sound for cover bands with pompous lead singers.

If I was in a tribute band it would be a….
Albert Camus tribute band.

My Favourite word is…
Waffle.

If I had a super power I’d want it to be…
Teleport.

If I could play a gig anywhere it would be…
Tehran, Iran.

I think you should listen to…
Atmosphere.

If I could see anyone play live it would be…
Boards of Canada.
