Crafting exuberant, dark, club-ready pop Andrea Di Giovanni is a rapidly rising queer pop icon. The Italian artist and activist, who’s now London-based, recently released their infectious new EP Permission, a searing combination of heady beats, brooding electronica, and Di Giovanni’s soaring vocals.

Having released Permission last month ahead of Pride season and summer, Di Giovanni channels a message of playfulness and being unapologetically yourself whilst pertinently emphasising the importance of “having fun whilst in control”. Opening track ‘Forbidden Love’ interweaves a clip from Sylvia Rivera’s famous speech amidst swirling, atmospheric electronica and offers a perfect introduction to Di Giovanni’s shimmering sonic creations that are very much here to soundtrack your summer.
We caught up with the dark electro-pop auteur to find out a little more about them.
