Ahead of her performance at The Hydra’s party at Printworks this weekend, Anastasia Kristensen takes some snaps for us during a trip to Sub Club…

Hailing from Moscow and now based in Copenhagen, where she’s a resident at Culture Box, Anastasia Kristensen fostered her love for techno on journeys to and from college, and later commuting to and from work. Fast forward through a few years of honing her craft whilst studying in Canada, and the Houndstooth and Mord affiliate has now established herself a respected, exciting and fast-rising position in underground music. Following a jam-packed year that’s seen her play shows at the likes of Dimensions Festival, Bassiani, fabric and Berlin Atonal, this weekend Kristensen plays the gargantuan Press Halls at Printworks, opening the room ahead of Jeff Mills’ highly anticipated debut show at the venue.

At Resident Advisor’s tunnel party at Dimensions Festival this summer, where I danced in a network of war shelter tunnels underneath the city of Pula, Anastasia Kristensen showed her penchant for bringing brighter tones to intense, pummelling techno. Read: the vocal from K-Klass classic ‘Rhythm Is a Mystery’ thrown into the mix alongside trance-y synths and squelchy acid top lines. There was fist-pumping and whistles of admiration as an uber-focused Kristensen looked genuinely taken aback at the wild reaction she got from the dance floor.

Anastasia’s latest productions have seen her remix Special Request and, more recently, rework Daniel Avery’s ‘Glitter’ (below) into a banging percussive workout.

Ahead of her performance at The Hydra‘s final Printworks party of 2018, where she’ll play alongside a host of techno stalwarts like Octave One, DJ Stingray and Marcel Dettmann, follow Anastasia Kristensen around Glasgow to Sub Club courtesy of a few selfies…
