Fresh from releasing his Let Me Through EP on new label Pomme Frite, Alex Virgo tackles some quick-fire questions to reveal a bit more about himself.

Taking inspiration from French house aesthetics and labels such as Dust Traxx, Peace Frog, Roule and Subliminal, Let Me Through is the debut release on his very own Pomme Frite label and arrives primed for summer. It’s all the more fitting, as Virgo gears up for an eagerly-anticipated set at Lovebox on July 13th with these gloriously uplifting tracks surely destined for a spin.

A label inspired by his own appreciation of disco and sample culture, we can’t wait to hear what comes next from Alex Virgo and Pomme Frite. Huge things await.

Ahead of his Lovebox slot, get to know Virgo a little better via In Short…

Three words to describe your music…
Raw, Fun & Playful – I’d say my music is tough but is nothing too serious

The first artist you saw live…
The Mars Volta at The Astoria, London in 2003 maybe…

Favourite label…
At the moment I’d say Toy Tonics, constant heat coming from those guys

Best venue to play…
I’d say Fabric room 1, it’s one of the first clubs I ever went to & have had the pleasure of playing there twice now!

Best venue to party at…
De School, Amsterdam has some really incredible venues!

Most underrated producer…
Tee Mango, a lot of his music is self released & goes under the radar. For me anyway!

Best track to save a flagging dance floor…
Johnick – The Captain

An artist you’d recommend to fans of your own music…
Tom Jay, he’s been putting out some really good records lately

A track you’re listening to on-repeat…
My Mine – Hypnotic Tango, its been recently repressed late last year I think and it’s been stuck in my head since

A record that cheers you up…
Lenny Williams – Choosing You, it’s a classic upbeat disco track that’s bound to make you smile

Three artists you’d book to play at your birthday…
Moodymann, DJ Harvey, Jamiroquai. A lean mix
