Following the release of her latest EP, ShitKid recommends five tracks you should be listening to.
ShitKid, the lo-fi bedroom recording project of Sweden’s Åsa Söderqvist, first appeared in the spring of 2016 with a self-titled debut EP and she’s since carved a path as one of the most exciting new, underground acts to come out of the country.
Returning last month with her latest EP This Is It, ShitKid’s fourth collection of tracks in under two years clings onto the sparse, scratchy guitar sounds of her previous work whilst also expanding into more experimental territory, in what’s perhaps her strongest collection of songs to date.
Following the EP’s release, we asked Åsa to share five of her favourite tracks of the moment. This Is It is out now via PNKSLM.
Spice Boys – Vessel
Our PNKSLM brothers and friends from Umeå makes cool noisy rock and awesome live shows.
Sneaks – True Killer
Bass and drum-machine :)) I think she is so badass. The first song she released and the first I heard was this one.
Matriarkatet – Den vandrande tumören
Great Swedish punk. Got to see their last ever gig wich was great and then I stole their bassplayer.
F.N.Y – Duktig
Sometimes when you see something live that you love you can get obsessed with music you dont really listen to. Like this Swedish pop singer. This song is also about fucking ofc.
Jelly Crystal – Love
My friend Filip just released songs under the name Jelly Crystal and it is super smooth and dreamy.
