We chatted to Novo Amor in the midst of the release of the beautiful new video titled ‘Birthplace’ with music from his long-awaited debut album of the same name.

The video tackles the important issue of plastic waste in our oceans and accompanies a campaign which you can view here.

In love yet? Find out a little more about the producer, singer-songwriter, and multi instrumentalist below…

Three words to describe my music

Dynamic, expressive, nostalgic.

Favourite ever film…

10 Things I Hate About You or The Terminator 2.

Favourite instagram account…

Currently drunkpeopledoingthings. It speaks for itself.

The best venue I’ve played…

Either Botanique in Brussels or Shoreditch Town Hall in London.

The song I can’t listen to…

Anything sung in an over-pronounced theatrical voice. Also, the Macarena, just f**k off.

The worst job I’ve ever had…

in 2008 for the company that supplies and stacks the books in Tesco. I quit (by text) after 3 hours.

My favourite meal to cook…

Vegetarian Dahl. I’m also pretty satisfied by how quick, easy and tasty Beans on Toast is.

If I was in a tribute band it would be…

Awful.

My Favourite word….

Frood. Like most people, I have no favourite word, so it’s a portmanteau of Free Food that I just coined for this interview, because who doesn’t like free food?

If I had a superpower I’d want it to be….

To instantly be able to go to sleep whenever I want.

A side effect of the power is that I’d also be able to freeze time for myself and whoever I choose (I do not age in the frozen time). I can also talk to animals and teleport.

If I could play a gig anywhere it would be…

Red Rocks Colorado.

I think you should listen to… (something other than yourself)

Radio Lab podcasts.

If I could see anyone play live it would be…

An Evening With: Nirvana, Hans Zimmer, My Chemical Romance, Eminem (circa 2003), Pinegrove, Volcano Choir & Bjork.

Live: 22nd October, Union Chapel (plus a second date just added!)

Album: ‘Birthplace’ out 19th October 2018
