We chatted to 18 year old West London singer AMA after listening to her woozy bass-filled debut single ‘Monochrome’, an ode to the grey area of young love.

Opening with haunting keys spotlighting AMA’s soulful vocals, the bass-filled woozy 2-step beat kicks in, produced by London-based producer Courage (BlackButter) and mixed by Spike Stent (Vince Staples/Frank Ocean). An ode to the grey area of young love, AMA’s vivid storytelling flows effortlessly over the track, “Do you feel the same? / If I get you never letting go / Maybe I should leave you alone” she sings.

After hearing AMA’s impressive, soulful debut we can’t wait to hear more from the west London artist so we caught up with her to find out a little more. From food, to venues, to favourite words, we’re happy to introduce to you, AMA.

Three words to describe our/my music
Constantly evolving sound

Favourite ever film…
Ahhh thats such a tough question off the top of my head, when I was younger though I use to be obsessed with The Sound of Music

Favourite instagram account…
It’d probably either be @love.watts or @bardiazeinali they both post just top quality content

The best venue I’ve played…
I haven’t done that many live sets, but last year I did a set at a venue called visions and just trialed all new music and it went sick!!!!

The worst job I’ve ever had…
The worst job I ever had was an unpaid compulsory work experience 9-5 on the store floor of House of Fraser Monday to Friday

My favourite meal to cook…
It would have to be any sort of pasta because it doesn’t take long at all to prepare a nice sauce and then you can just get straight into eating no fuss.

My Favourite word….
Maybe ebullient, it was a word I learned last year and I just really like it… cant say I use it often though.

If I had a superpower I’d want it to be….
I think I would want it be to reset time by like 3 minutes whenever I need to… it’s enough to be able to fix most issues and accidents/mistakes but, it also isn’t too much power for me not be able to handle my superpower…I think it could be very practical. Or just teleportation.

If I could play a gig anywhere it would be…
The o2 would be a full circle because that is where I went to my first ever concert, somewhere outdoors with a really amazing veiw would be awesome too.

I think you should listen to…
This artist called Choker from the states, found out about him recently and I cant stop playing his stuff.

If I could see anyone play live it would be…
Childish Gambino is someone who I haven’t seen live yet who I would love to see.

‘Monochrome’ is out now.
