French duo Clara and Armand met at Beaux Arts school in Paris and there began Agar Agar, an experimental techno-pop group that’s so far released one EP, Cardan, via French label Cracki Records.

The release’s lead track ‘I’m That Guy’ uses a rumbling bass line, drum machine and retro synths alongside Clara’s chant-like vocals. It’s complete with oddly mesmerising lyrics (example: “I’m gonna buy myself a dog with a lot of hair ’cause I need to pet something or I’m just gonna throw something in a bathtub…”) and, at 7 and a half minutes long, it’s a commitment, but one worth making. Listen below:

The band play both Moth Club and The Great Escape this month, so we grabbed a few minutes with them to run them through our usual In Short Qs.

My favourite film ever is…
Le Roi et l’Oiseau

The song I can’t listen to is…
Orinoco Flow

The worst job I’ve ever had is…
sending crappy presents to very rich people, like the CEO of Disney Land Paris. Put the present in a box, close the box, put a label with the address on the box, then do it again for another CEO than doesn’t fucking care about the perfume sample he’s going to receive. I kept some of these labels. Now I have some addresses to which I can randomly send my poop, if I lack of fun some day.

Favourite meal to cook is…
la tortilla de patatas

If I was in a tribute band it would be a….
shitty band

My Favourite word is…
is

If I had a superpower I’d want it to be…
invincibility so i could steal a plane and fly super high, and stay alive.

in Trump’s ass, i wonder what a huge pile of shit’s ass looks like

I think you should listen to…
Torebian – Tetramorium Caespitum

If I could see anyone play live it would be…
JS Bach
